Love takes prisoners
It causes you pain. It rips your heart open, for all the world to see, then it punctures it, and watches, the whole world, watches as it bleeds.
All over your sweater, all over the floor, all over your bedroom, your chest covered in blood, gushing, gushing.
Love beckons you into the ring, then knocks you down without any time to think. They say that it’s grand, but it’s horrible, despicable!
Love cages you up, and convinces you you’re happy, then tosses the key and leaves you lonely. Love takes us all, sometimes even twice. Love makes us prisoners, of our own device.
